OVER TWO CENTURIES OF HOTEL TRADITION In this former muleteer's tavern, steeped in history and tradition, we reserve a hearty welcome for you. HOTEL RITTER - SINCE 1789 "For the refreshment and sustenance of travelers and the sick..." a tavern was built in Kandersteg in 1789 by order of the High Lords of Bern. The Landsvenner Ryter was entrusted with managing the new establishment and also gave it its name. Today, the RITTER presents itself as a cozy inn with a restaurant, ski bar, and 12 authentically furnished chalet rooms with modern amenities. HOTEL VICTORIA Due to increasing tourism, the Hotel Ritter was expanded in 1895 with the addition of the Victoria wing, designed by architects from Interlaken and Berlin. The natural surroundings and the grounds blend seamlessly with the building's interior. The comfortable hotel lounge and the bright dining room, with its seamless transition to the park's greenery, evoke the atmosphere of that era. Art Nouveau and Victorian styles harmonize perfectly. With the construction of the Lötschberg railway line, even more guests came to Kandersteg, and the Victoria wing was further expanded in two additional phases to become the hotel it is today.
