Munich International Airport (MUC), officially named Franz Josef Strauss, is Germany's second-busiest airport and a primary hub for Lufthansa and Star Alliance partners. It is located approximately 28.5 km northeast of Munich's city centre. The airport consists of two main passenger terminals and a satellite building, all linked by the Munich Airport Center (MAC), a central atrium featuring shops, restaurants, and a covered plaza. Terminal 1: The older terminal, handling most international, charter, and point-to-point airlines such as Air France, British Airways, and Eurowings. It is divided into modules A, B, C, D, and E. Terminal 2: Primarily serves Lufthansa, Air Dolomiti, and Star Alliance members. It features a modern linear structure designed for efficient transfers. Satellite Terminal: An extension of Terminal 2, accessible via a short underground driverless train. Munich Airport Center (MAC): The hub between the terminals housing the S-Bahn station, medical services, and a seasonal Christmas Market with an ice rink from mid-November to December.
