Overview
Holyoakes Clearning Shelter is a tiny hut with just two beds. Hiking from Marahau to Holyoakes Shelter is a good day trip from Nelson if you want some exercise. People who hike down from Canaan Downs to Abel Tasman coast use this as a lunch stop. Not much here besides a picnic bench, helicopter landing area, and a small pond/reservoir used for firefighting. You do get nice views toward Richmond and Nelson. There is a "long drop" toilet, and you will probably need to bring your own toilet paper.
