Overview
If you want to walk through the Nelson CBD (Central Business District), this is the north end of the main street. (Trafalgar Street) At the other end are the church steps. At this end is the Department of Conservation Visitor Centre. The Maitai River walkway meets Trafalgar Street here. Walk downstream to get to the port and ocean. Walk upstream to walk through the areas where people live. If you walk for a half hour or more, you will eventually be in the forested area along the Maitai River.
