This is a round trip hike from Engelberg to Brunnihutte. Make sure Brunnihutte is open and serving food if you plan to eat lunch there. Distance 11.3 km, Elevation gain: 868 m, Time 5.5 to 6 hours. Discover the sunny side of Engelberg on the way to the Brunni Hut. This hike starts at the valley station of the Engelberg-Ristis cable car and leads relatively quickly out of the village. The trail first runs through shady forests to Ristis and then continues via Ober Ristis up to the hut. Along the way, flowering alpine meadows with gentians and alpine roses invite you to linger. With a little luck, you may spot chamois or marmots on the rocky slopes above the hut. The trail offers impressive panoramic views of the Titlis and the Hahnen, which accompany hikers throughout the ascent. The Brunni Hut is located directly on the picturesque, heart-shaped Härzlisee lake. A special highlight for tired feet is the "Kitzelpfad" (tickle path) by the lake, a barefoot trail that invigorates the senses. In the hut, local specialties such as Älplermagronen invite you to take a leisurely break. Alternatively, visitors can easily reach the area by cable car to Ristis and the chairlift. In winter, the trail is often groomed as a winter hiking trail, but caution is advised as it crosses ski slopes in places. Sturdy shoes and hiking poles are recommended for a secure footing.
