A short (7 km) round trip hike through beautiful native forest along the Kaituna River to "the forks", where it intersects with another river. For a longer walk, turn left at the river fork, cross the river, and follow the trapline upstream as far as you want, and return back the way you came. Beyond the Kaituna Forks, the track changes to a steep uphill 'route'. (You'll need two cars, with one at the other end where the track meets "Dry Road" near Whanganui Inlet. Six to 8 hours one-way.)
