Cable Bay has a nice beach, (rocky one end, sandy the other), a short drive from Nelson. There is a very steep hike to the top of a hill with beautiful views of the bay, tidal estuary, and cliffs to the west. Hike to the top of the hill, walk along the hilltops to the native bush. Venture as far as you like through the native bush, and then return. If you have two cars you can do a one way hike to/from Glenduan. The Glenduan end of this hike was logged in 2024, so its not nice at that end.
